Selecting the right tower and related foundation is very important. Monopole towers offer stylish design by appealing to those installing a wind tower in residential neighborhoods. With a single, tapered tower, monopoles are readily accepted in areas that may otherwise frown on a wind tower installation. Monopole towers are often the easiest wind towers to install as well. The major obstacle to monopole towers is cost. Typically they are more expensive to purchase and install than traditional guy-wire towers. Guy-wire towers on the other hand cost less to install but are generally more complicated and have less “curb appeal”. When selecting a tower height make sure you are 20’ above anything within 250’ minimum. Monopoles come in 33', 33.5’, 34, 45’, 50’, & 60’ configurations. Guy-wire kits come various sizes as well depending on the wind turbine selected. Depending on your height requirements and aesthetics needs, selecting the right tower configuration is important to ensure you get the most out of your wind tower.

When selecting a foundation kit for a monopole installation ensure you are purchasing the correct kit. The 33.5’ towers use a 32” bolt kit when a mat foundation is desired. DO NOT USE THE 32” BOLT KIT ON ANY OTHER TOWER HEIGHT INSTALLATION. The easiest foundation to install is the SMarT foundation kit. All though the up-front cost is more, it does contain everything you need to install the foundation except for the concrete. The kit makes it much easier for the do-it-yourselfers to install the foundation trouble-free! The SMarT foundation will also work with the TEC-WIND towers.
